I am a retired high school English teacher with extensive teaching and tutoring experience. I have a BA in English Literature, additional certification in Secondary English (6-12), and a Masters in Educational Leadership with an emphasis on Curriculum Development. I have taught in public schools, a private Christian school, overseas, and around the US. I can provide guided instruction in a variety of areas, including history, grammar, reading comprehension, literary analysis, and composition. I find that many subjects, including Science and Math require students to break down reading passages in order to understand important complex concepts. I am comfortable providing the comprehension bridge in subjects other than English. That being said, I am not a reading instructor for young children who have not mastered the skill nor am I a math tutor, but I certainly can monitor progress and have an excellent reading resource to share if needed. In math, I can assist up to pre-Algebra.
