I provide one on one tutoring services to students who are struggling to learn how to read including those designated as special needs learners, autistic and second language learners. My area of expertise serves students in kindergarten through grade 3 although I'm licensed Grades k-8. I assess in five areas of literacy ex. sight words, phonics, comprehension then design a distinct learning plan that targets areas of weakness identified by those 5 assessments. Because deficient skills are pinpointed, progress is steady. I don't spend time teaching skills students already know but rather use strengths as a foundation to teach what is partially known or totally unknown. I have served as both a public school reading specialist and Teacher Education Professor during a career spanning over three decades.
