I have 29+ years as a “Learning Leader”. My experience includes kindergarten teacher, instructional coach, Voluntary Pre-K director,  assistant principal and presently as principal. I serve in a public school that has almost 600 pre-k and kindergarten students.I specialize in assessing students’ foundational literacy skills and analyzing students’ performance in order to  provide appropriate reading intervention strategies Kindergarten -3rd Grade.  I have extensive knowledge of the science of reading and evidence-based practices in teaching the 5 components of reading:  Phonological Awareness, Phonics (Early decoding & advanced decoding), Fluency, Vocabulary, and Comprehension. I am passionate about continuously growing in research based knowledge about how reading works in the brain and then applying scientifically sound reading instruction strategies to grow proficient readers and teachers of reading!.
