The Principles of Problem Solving (POPS) program is a structured, evidence-informed social emotional learning (SEL) program designed to help students strengthen confidence, improve behavior, and develop real-life problem-solving skills. Developed in 2021 in response to post-pandemic learning and behavioral challenges, POPS supports students in building the internal tools needed to succeed both academically and personally. Through guided instruction and real-life application, students will learn how to: Manage emotions and respond calmly in challenging situations Improve focus, follow-through, and personal responsibility Build confidence and self-awareness Strengthen decision-making and problem-solving skills Develop leadership and communication abilities Sessions are interactive and tailored to meet each student’s developmental level, incorporating: Guided discussion Real-life scenarios Journaling and reflection Role-play and confidence-building activities This program is designed as a structured transformation experience, not a drop-in tutoring session, with measurable outcomes in behavior, confidence, and decision-making. POPS is grounded in established frameworks including social learning theory, self-efficacy, cognitive behavioral approaches, and social emotional learning (SEL), ensuring that students are learning skills that are both research-informed and practical.
