My name is Jill Mittica. I offer 1-1 or small group reading and writing tutoring for students in grades 4 - 10. I have been teaching middle school ELA since 2007, including teaching reading recovery courses and tutoring students in grades 4 - 8. I also have 2 kids of my own at home (and many pets!). I have a strong background in reading instruction. I have my Florida state reading endorsement and a reading micro-credential. I am ESOL endorsed as well. I have experience guiding students through the writing process to help them prepare for the state BEST Essay writing test as well as writing short responses that are clear and evidence-based. I believe that all students can become strong readers by resolving phonics issues, building fluency, and expanding vocabulary. Building a strong foundation leads to increased comprehension. More importantly, students will feel pride and confidence in their abilities.
