Permaculture allows everyone to tap into lasting, productive systems to grow food, learn practical homestead skills, live sustainably, and build strong resilient communities. Salt Life Permaculture Interactive food forest courses are designed to help youth grow, share, learn, and benefit from Permaculture Principles in action. Youth are taught through hands on experiential education and outdoor immersion within a Florida native forest habitat, food forest, and indoor classroom. Salt Life Permaculture youth educational curriculum is designed to employ STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics) through hands-on activities, experiments, and investigations that allow students to develop practical skills that relate to their lives and the world around them in real-world scenarios. Founded in 2020, Salt Life Permaculture started with the simple idea of building a food forest and eco-corridor for Florida wildlife. We soon realized why permaculture calls us to make connections and the value of Permaculture’s core ethics of Earth Care, People Care, and Fair Share. An idea to expand to a dedicated permaculture community center became The Salty Village which broke ground in 2024 and lies adjacent to the ‘first oak forest’ of the Bulow State Forest along the famous Ormond Scenic Loop. We are a Florida certified plant nursery, Certified in Permaculture Design, a Demonstration food forest, and certified native Habitat.
