Southern Instructional Solutions (SIS) knows the school struggles students face and aims to help them achieve success in areas such as reading, writing, or math, so they view themselves and become BRIGHT learners! Through the learning with SIS, they gain confidence to participate in class, raise their hand to read, and complete homework quicker, accurately, and independently. Also, their grades may increase negative behaviors reduce, friends are made, among many other positive consequences. We do this by using a diagnostic assessment to find the student’s strengths and weaknesses; then, through specialized, consistent, and targeted online tutoring instruction using a document camera for the teacher & student, the weaknesses are explicitly taught and practiced until mastered. To do this, each student is sent a bag of tutoring supplies containing actual materials & manipulatives for a multi-sensory learning experience using Orton-Gillingham procedures combined with the just-right curriculum for their customized learning plan.
