Specialized Education Associates (SEA), provides comprehensive educational services to meet the needs of students with Visual Impairments. Our individualized instructional services are based on the assessed needs of students and encompass unique needs related to the nine areas of the Expanded Core Curriculum for student with visual impairments, including those with additional disabilities. These nine areas are: ·compensatory or functional academic skills, including communication modes and braille ·social interaction skills ·independent living skills ·recreation and leisure skills ·career education ·use of assistive technology ·sensory efficiency skills, including the use of low vision devices such as magnifiers ·self-determination ·orientation and mobility Specialized Education Associates, conducts assessments and ensures that services are provided in accordance with each student's plan, including: Identifying, selecting, and modifying instructional materials based on individual needs; Collaborating with families and team/service providers; Maintaining effective record keeping procedures; Interpreting eye medical reports as they relate to student needs and their educational/home environments; and participating in meetings. Because we are specially trained and certified in visual disabilities education and orientation and mobility, we can effectively meet students’ comprehensive needs related to their visual impairments, thereby maximizing thier skills for independence.
