Provider description
As an almost 20 year veteran, teaching Pre-K through First Grade, it is my educational philosophy that early intervention is key to student success. By addressing specific gaps, students are able to build a stronger foundation leading to higher success throughout their educational journey. As a classroom teacher meeting the needs of a diversified class and addressing specific reading difficulties' such as dyslexia, decoding issues or general reading concerns is a continual challenge that can only be overcome with understanding curriculum. Matching the right curriculum to meet individual needs is vital to a students success. As your child's tutor I will: 1. Assess your child's current reading level, strengths and areas of difficulty. This involves testing in comprehension, fluency, phonics and vocabulary. This will create a baseline understanding of the needs of your child. 2. Based on the assessment, a personalized learning plan will be developed. The plan will focus on the whole learning approach addressing all the components of reading with a tailored curriculum to best meet the needs. Research based curriculum will be matched to provide your child with the optimum tutoring experience using a multi sensory approach. Some curriculum includes: Susan Barton, SRA, Step Up, Road to the Code to name a few. 3. Ongoing feedback and progress monitoring will be reported to you in a timely manner. You will always be informed about your child's progress.
